Focus on... Kevin Follet

From now on, every month on HomeCooking Share , a regular user artist will be presented, put forward. In addition to his music, which can be found everywhere on the site, this is an opportunity to get to know each other better! For this fifth episode, focus on Kevin Follet

HomeCookingShare: To begin, who are you?

Kevin Follet: I’m Kevin Follet from Verona, Italy, born in 1978, poly-instrumentalist, live audio video performer, label owner. I’m an experimentalist, I like to go where I never been before.

HCS: How would you define your music?

KF: My music is a collection of moods, everything I write is the result of what I feel in that moment, influenced by my favorite artists and what I’m listening to.

HCS: What made you decide one day to embark on this musical adventure?

KF: Sincerely I don’t remember, it’s a long time ago (1992), probably is similar than now, that means I have the need to express what I feel and the channel I chose was electronic music.

HCS: Your influences?

KF: I have a very wide range of listenings, from classic to extremely experimental electronic, passing thru jazz, bossa nova, rock, metal, in every little variations.

HCS: If you had to leave on a desert island with 3 discs: which ones?

KF: :

- Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works I

- Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie and Infinite Sadness

- Elis Regina & Antonio Carlos Jobim - Elis & Tom

HCS: The perfect track to cook?

KF: the one that comes from the heart

  • All my stuff from 2007 till now (BandCamp)
  • Experiments and live acts (Instagram)
  • Experiments, live acts and releases (Youtube)
  • My own label
  • FB is my gateway, not often used
  • Twitter, same as FB
  • SoundCloud, Releases, live acts and little experiments
  • MixCloud, Mostly old podcasts
  • Post-Metal Band Page (BandCamp)
  • Punk Rock Band Page
  • HCS: Small technical point: with what material do you work?

KF: Such everything, (electro) acoustic, analog and digital, my policy is take the best from everything you got,I work mostly with machines, also DIY, and I delegate to computer the recording and post production.

HCS: Not easy to break into the musical jungle, even with talent ... what do you think about it?

KF: True, coming from the 90’s I saw a huge change in music industry, increased the number of producers and songs but decreased the musical quality of what we are listening to. Especially now music is driven by the money and not from talent so if you have enough money and know the right people you’ll potentially break the wall.

HCS: And finally, if you have something to add (pretty much what you want ...), here we go!

    KF: My other projects:
WOWS, post-metal band, as keyboardist and noise maker
DARK INC., Trip-Hop/Break beat/IDM band, as keyboardist and audio/video developer
CAVRONES, punk rock band, as drummer
DRUMMOND Records, electronic music label, as A&R and owner.
SLEEP DISORDER, drone/ambient/noise audio/video performance, as improviser ;) [my wild project]

To continue in music the discovery of the artist, here is his last track uploaded : "Invidia"
